  • What is the Family House?
  • Family House is a hospital hospitality house. We provide low-cost lodging and other supportive services for the families of patients receiving medical treatment in Peoria, Ill.
  • Who can stay at the house?
  • The welcome mat is always out at Family House for the out-of-town relatives of patients receiving medical treatment in Peoria. Lodging is also available for those who travel here to receive outpatient care. Children are welcome to stay with their families. So are grandparents, other relatives and friends whose support is critical to the well-being of the patient.
  • How much does it cost to stay?
  • Family House charges $39 per night per room.
  • How do I become a guest?
  • All you need to do is call for room availability the same day lodging is needed. (Sorry, we can't accept advance reservations.) You can also ask the hospital social workers, nursing staff, chaplin or admitting office to make the necessary arrangements.
  • What are my responsibilities as a guest?
  • You will be given a list of simple rules at check-in, but our most important requirement is that you not infringe on the comfort of other guests.
  • How many bedrooms do you have?
  • Family House has 20 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom, television, telephone and heating/cooling unit. Common areas include a parlors, two fully-equipped kitchens, a dining room that can accommodate 20 guests, and other community areas both indoor and outdoor.
  • How many people can stay in a room?
  • Most of our rooms will accommodate two, but some bedrooms have space for a twin inflatable mattress. There is a maximum of three adults per bedroom.
  • Do you supply linens/towels?
  • Guests are provided with clean towels and linens at check-in.
  • Do you have shuttle service?
  • The hospitals provide free shuttle service to and from the nearby medical centers. Free parking is available at the hospitals and at Family House.
  • Do you have laundry service?
  • Guest laundry facilities (with coin-operated machines) are located on each floor. Guests are responsible for their own laundry soap.
  • Do you have an elevator?
  • Yes, Family House is handicap-accessible.
  • Do you have telephones in bedrooms?
  • Yes, guest rooms are provided with telephones.
  • Do you have TVs in the rooms?
  • Televisions are available in all of our bedrooms, with cable-tv access.
  • How long has Family House been open?
  • Family House opened its doors in 1985 and moved into our new house in June 2011. More than 28,000 guests have stayed in our home away from home.
  • Do you have security?
  • Family House is staffed 24 hours a day. Each guest is provided with a key card for front door and guest room access. So, even through you are away from home, you can feel safe at Family House.
  • Where does your support come from?
  • Family House is a not-for-profit organization. The foundation of Family House is built upon the generosity of philanthropic businesses, foundations and individuals. Additionally, Family House hosts four annual fundraisers throughout the year.
